Cowboy Craic ~ One Heckuva a Good Time!

Cowboy Music & Poetry with a Celtic Twist

Cowboy Craic is Western & Cowboy music, poetry & stories with a Celtic flavor.  Come along as we journey from the campfires of the cattle trails to the Honky tonks of today.

Why Cowboy Craic?

The Cowboy is easy to explain. It is what we have been since before we drew our first breath. Bit Devine grew up tagging after her daddy as he worked the circle in southeastern Arizona, as a Range Detective for Pima County and as a ranch manager for Mary West. As she grew up, she proved to be a good hand to have around, always willing to help no matter the size of the task. Casey grew up in Missouri, Texas and Washington State and worked on family cow/calf operations. He learned early on in life that being a Cowboy was a privilege that few were given.

Craic is the Irish word for one heckuva good time, which is what we offer up when we step out on stage. The decision to use Cowboy Craic was an easy one, as both Bit & Casey have a bit of the Irish in them. Casey is Irish/Cherokee, while Bit is a cultural mutt, being Scot/Irish & Spanish/Sicilian. There is also a deep and abiding connection between the music of the Celts and that of the American West.  It is this connection which we draw on to entertain our audience. As Songwriters, we have adapted several Celtic ballads in to Cowboy trail songs, as was the Irish cowboys did over one hundred years ago. In our shows, we will carry our audience from the days of the long cattle drive to the smoke & bourbon grit of the Honky Tonks. Along the way, we will introduce you to traditional songs of the trail and their Celtic counterparts, some delightful stories and western poetry.

We have traveled across North America performing at Cowboy Gatherings, Corporate events, Trail rides, and private house concerts, as well as Irish Cultural events. We have traveled through out Ireland entertaining in pubs, libraries, schools and festivals.  Everywhere we go we find a strong interest in all things connected with the American West, be it here in North America or internatioanally. Our workshops on the musical connection between Celt and Cowboy songs are always a good draw. For the past two summers, the workshops we have held in Monasterevin, Ireland have been one of the first to fill during registration. Our children's programs, whether in schools or at libraries, draw "children" from 2 to 92.

Whether it is a lecture, workshop, concert or sing-along, Bit & Casey do their best to make sure that everyone in the audience has one heckuva good time or Craic, as the case may be!
