Western/cowboy/indian themed fictional books?

My grandma has watched just about ALL things western/john wayne, so now i want to buy her a western, but fictional book for christmas! I live in the uk and waterstones dont usually have anything thats slightly unpopular, so name me some popular book titles please :D answers appreciated! X

Author Zane Grey would be one that your grandmother would like, also Louis L’Amour, another author. They are both established western writers and would not offend your grandmother’s sensibilities.

For more modern stories, try books by Tony Hillerman. He’s very popular.

Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry, is a great book. It won the Pulitzer Prize so it should be pretty easy to find. If she likes it, there are four books in that series, and McMurtry has written other westerns as well.
