Does anyone know of any articles or books that describe how cowboys broke horses all those years ago?

I’m looking for some books or articles talking about how cowboys used to break horses. I need stuff that talks about "cruel methods of breaking horses" and basically stuff that natural horsemanship people think is bad for horses.
hah… tying a horse to a post is what Parelli does…he just doesn’t tell anyone about it…

I am 17 and I’m looking for books about horse back riding (not just "has horses in it") Mostly english riding and competeing, but western’s fine too.
